I'm interested in putting together a cookbook in ebook form. Has anyone here done an ebook? What software did you use? How did you market it?

I have one book on pest control I converted to an ebook. Wrote it in MS Word and re-formatted it to Acrobat PDF. I market it at www.bugsmiceratsnomore.com

I market it on eBay too.

I wrote several sales letter versions based on seasonal pest appearances and one story about an incident with the brown recluse spider that I post online and use as direct mail order marketing.

I also wrote a self-improvement book that is still in unedited, first draft version, waiting for me to schedule the editing process.

Hi Joe,

Do you have the inclination to tell us how you re-formatted your ebook to Acrobat PDF? Do I have to buy some software to do it?

Yes I have written a number of ebooks.
Most of my ebooks are reports that I have crafted to build my list.
Another one of my ebooks is a transcript of interviews I did with master pizzaiolo.

I do have a cook book called The Pizza Therapy Pizza Book.
Here is the link:

or you can see it here from my website pizzatherapy

There are many ways to format your ebook to pdf.

You can download Open Office:

http://www.openoffice.org/

Basically Open Office is a free suite of tools like MS office. One of the tools inside is a pdf converter.

You can also download a free trial of adobe or other pdf converters. Just make sure your ebook is ready to go and formatted before you doenload the trial version.

I use a software called edocprinter pro. Here is the website:

http://iteksoft.com/

I like them becasue they are very responsive with support issues.

If you search for a free pdf you should be able to find one.

My Pizza Therapy Pizza Book has been the mainstay of my website. I sell copies every month.
Here is the model that I use to market it:

I give away a free dough recipe to get people on my email list. Then I gently promote my ebook and other products to my list.

My advice is to get your book out there.

You can do the same thing I did: give away a few recipes or chapters of your ebook.

There are many ways that you can promote it for free. Here are a couple of ways:
set up a free blog at blogger, set up a free squidoo page.
I hope this helps.
